It’s that time again - oh yes it is!!
Ben Crocker’s script is a fast moving, up-to-date telling of the traditional
Aladdin story - a folk tale which first came to Europe over 200 years ago as
one of the "1001 Arabian Nights" and is just as popular now as it was then.
This version is full of verbal and physical comedy, dance, movement and
great songs. As the action transports the audience from the empty deserts of
Arabia to the bustling streets and slums of Old Peking, we will be telling a
moving story of true love, terrible greed and a deadly struggle for absolute
power. And a panda....

Little Shop Of Horrors

Little Shop of Horrors is a horror comedy rock musical with music by Alan Menken and lyrics and a book by Howard Ashman. The story follows a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horror

The Phoebe Rees Awards Night
The Phoebe Rees is a year-round full-length play competition which is open to any drama group in Somerset. Productions are judged by one of a panel of visiting adjudicators, and the group receives a full written adjudication, usually within a week or two of the performance. They also try to publish a review of the production in the next issue of Spotlight.

The David Beach Competition for Musicals came into being in 2002, at the suggestion of David Beach himself. Hitherto it had been part of the Phoebe Rees Competition for full length plays,
The season runs, officially, from 1st January to 30th November. The David Beach Presentation Evening which takes place in March each year.

This will be held in the Victoria Hall at 7:30 for a 7:45 prompt start. Patrons are most welcome to attend and it is always a pleasure to see you. May we please remind junior members, non-paid up members and patrons that they are not eligible to vote and that membership/patrons fees become due for renewal.
This is a competition, taking place over the winter months (December-March) in which groups affiliated to the SFD can enter their pantomimes to be judged by a member of the Adjudicating Panel. The Awards Evening which is held every year in May and well over 400 people attend. There is a buffet supper and entertainment is provided in the form of a cabaret, made up of short pieces selected from some of the year's crop pf pantos.
